About Us

The idea of the "Everything Lambretta" website was the brain child of myself, Barry Drew.

In 1981 at the young age of 14, I purchased my first Lambretta from Stuart White a local Mod from the Medway Towns. My Dad saw an advert on the notice board at the Rochester based engineering company where he worked. The advert read “2 Lambrettas for sale, a Jet 200 and an Li 150, £150.00 for both”. ………Let us remember it was 1981!

A visit was promptly arranged and the scooters were purchased. I acquired the Li150 for £50 (that was all my paper round savings gone in one hit), with my brother Dave buying the Jet 200 for £100. My passion for Lambrettas, which had previously been a dream, had just begun.

The next 2 ½ years I spent stripping, respraying and rebuilding the Li150 it in its new livery and waiting patiently for the day when it would once again grace the open road. Over 42 years have now passed since I purchased the Li150 and I am pleased to say that I still own “My Lambretta” and having been its custodian for so many years, I can’t ever see me parting company with it.

In the 42 years I’ve been a Lambretta owner, I have travelled many miles on them, including in 2017 when I fulfilled a 10-year ambition to set a new “World Record” riding a Lambretta on every motorway in England, Scotland & Wales in 4 days.

About Us Back home at Chatham Dockyard having completed our 1300-mile journey!

After a year of planning, the Scootaway UK team started their adventure in Dunfermline and successfully completed the challenge, arriving back in Chatham 4 days later, raising almost £10K for Parkinson’s UK in the process.

Like many Lambretta enthusiasts, I have travelled to many different places and met some very interesting people, most of which I am proud to say are now very good friends. For my 50th birthday, my family paid for myself and Dave to travel to Milan, where we would visit the World famous Lambretta museum in Rodano owned and run by Vittorio Tessera.

Whilst visiting the museum, not only did Dave and I experience the wonders of the Lambrettas on display, but we also had the enormous pleasure of meeting Vittorio himself, who very generously gave up his time to give us a guided tour of the whole facility including the workshop and the parts department. For that I thank you Vittorio.

It was from the moment we visited the Lambretta museum at Rodano, that I decided I wanted give something back to the Lambretta community that had played such a large part in my life and that was when the idea of “Everything Lambretta” was conceived.

The vision I have for the “Everything Lambretta” website is to provide a one-stop online platform for all Lambretta owners and enthusiasts so that they can maximise their experience of owning a Lambretta and become a member of a community that is the Lambretta family.
